"Students do well at recalling the character traits at the end of the school year because of the fun tie-in with the animals. "

Who Is Carington?
CWCA's mascot is Carington the Giraffe. Carington was cleverly named by a second grade public school student in Erie, Pennsylvania, during a "name the giraffe" contest. Carington's name and identity reflect the heart of Carington's Wild Character Adventure and the heart of the curriculum's originating agency, the Women's Care Center of Erie County (PA), Inc.
About Our Curriculum
The Women's Care Center sought, through its Education Division, to bring hope and opportunity into its community by providing Character Education, beginning at the elementary school level. Carington's Wild Character Adventure curriculum was the result, after years of research and development, revision and field testing!
The CWCA curriculum aligns with Early Learning Standards and Approaches to Learning, as well as specific intermediate grade Curriculum Standards (states may vary).
CWCA encourages teachers and parents to honor their students through a variety of activities, incentives and recognition. Full color posters and collectable "Character Cards" provide visual cues and memory prompts for lesson concepts and reinforcement.
The CWCA curriculum was developed and published by the Women's Care Center of Erie County, Inc in Erie, Pennsylvania.
